Once a year I get the obsessive compulsive urge to spring clean my wardrobe. This year I went a little nuts and I am getting rid of three trash bags + one smaller bag full of clothes. I felt like I was borderline hoarding with the way my closet/dresser was jam packed full of clothes. Initially I was disgusted with myself. I cannot believe I have THAT many clothes. And that I could get rid of that many clothes and my closet is still full!
However, some good came out of this endeavor. I found some hidden gems that I had totally forgotten about. Like these Rag & Bone Bradford Brogue Oxfords that I bought a year ago and have never worn.
So I dug these bad boys out of my closet and was determined to wear them ASAP. I figured work was the best excuse. So I paired it with some black jolt skinnies, my lush sheer sleeveless tunic and my Club Monaco blazer. Thus was born my dapper yo pro outfit. (For those of you who don’t know, yo pro = young professional.)
This isn’t a look I typically rock. So I felt a little out of my comfort zone but it’s always good to push yourself. Plus it totally paid off. I got tons of compliments. Someone even said that it would have been a disservice to humanity if I didn’t take a picture of it.
In case I need to remind you, my nail polish addiction is out-of-control. My current obsession: Glow Up Already. You can wear it by itself (like I did in the picture) or use it as a top coat to add some bling to your color.
Not every day can be a good hair day. However, with this easy yet sophisticated hair do, any bad hair day can be turned into a good one. And trust me when I say this, the messier your hair is, the better this do looks. The best part is all you need is pretty headband.
Ok, so it’s been wayyyy to long since I’ve blogged. I know I’m sorry. But life happens fast and I’ve been way to busy lately to spend time on the internets. But I miss it! So one of my new year’s resolutions is to blog more. So here we go.
Seattle. Geek Girl Con. Offbeat Empire Reception Party. I know this happened 1000 years ago by now. But it was to amazing to pass up. So let’s talk about this.
The party was UH-MAZING! I mean there were appetizers, cupcakes, burlesque dancers, a photo-booth, Karaoke and the amazing Jonas Seaman documented the entire event. This dude is SUCH a good photographer he makes me want to throw in the towel and never take a photo again.
Obviously the party was the most important part of our weekend. So Megan and I spent a lot of time planning our outfits. A few days before we left I found a white lace dress at Urban Outfitters that I loved. However, once we actually got to Seattle I felt like my outfit was super boring. So Megan suggested I try wearing her new corset over the dress. I tried it on and BOOM. It looked amazing. Megan, my least fashion-minded, forward OR concerned friend totally styled me.
My favorite part of the night was the karaoke. Karaoke has recently become one of my favorite past times. I LOVE it. If I could I would be on stage all night (which may or may not have actually happened on my birthday this year.) So Garrett and I sang “Since U Been Gone” by Kelly Clarkson.
But the absolute highlight of the night was when Megan belted out an awesome rendition of Cee Lo Green’s “F**k You.” Megan rocked it so HARD. The song was stuck in my head for the next two weeks. The offbeat empire gals and myself even got to be her back up dancers!
I don’t normally talk about trends I dislike, but this whole feather hair extension trend is HORRIBLE! As far as I’m concerned, I hope it dies a quick and painful death… and soon, because every time I see one in your hair I have to physically stop myself from ripping it out. I hate to break it to you but you’re not the first person to do this either. You’re not original and different. You look like Miley freakin’ Cyrus or Ke$ha. NOT CUTE. This trend has GOT to go.
If you cannot resist the temptation to decorate your head with some feathers try feather earrings. Those are totally acceptable (and they don’t make me want to rip anyones hair out).
