Instant Yo Pro

27 Feb

Once a year I get the obsessive compulsive urge to spring clean my wardrobe. This year I went a little nuts and I am getting rid of three trash bags + one smaller bag full of clothes. I felt like I was borderline hoarding with the way my closet/dresser was jam packed full of clothes. Initially I was disgusted with myself. I cannot believe I have THAT many clothes. And that I could get rid of that many clothes and my closet is still full!

However, some good came out of this endeavor. I found some hidden gems that I had totally forgotten about. Like these Rag & Bone Bradford Brogue Oxfords that I bought a year ago and have never worn.

So I dug these bad boys out of my closet and was determined to wear them ASAP. I figured work was the best excuse. So I paired it with some black jolt skinnies, my lush sheer sleeveless tunic and my Club Monaco blazer. Thus was born my dapper yo pro outfit. (For those of you who don’t know, yo pro = young professional.)

This isn’t a look I typically rock. So I felt a little out of my comfort zone but it’s always good to push yourself. Plus it totally paid off. I got tons of compliments. Someone even said that it would have been a disservice to humanity if I didn’t take a picture of it.

Tolani Leopard Print Scarf

I have always loved animal print. Call me crazy but I totally think it’s a classic and it can be oh so seductive. With that said, it’s extremely easy to go overboard with it. So keep it simple stupid! Animal prints should only be used in moderation. I think the safest bet is to just leave the animal print to the accessories, like shoes, scarves, bags, etc.

I know I’m a little bit late on this but I love Miu Miu’s Spring 2010 RTW collection. I mean, really? Can it get cuter than all these mini animal prints!?

Gotta have my TOMS

5 Jun

When I was in high school we used to go to Rite Aid and buy these super cheap canvas slip ons. They were awesome because they only cost $6! Also the canvas allows for customization, you can decorate them however you want. The only problem is they have crappy support. And for someone with high arches, like me, that can be a problem!

My TOMS shoe collection: Glitter Gold, Classic Red & Vote!

Well, about two years ago I discovered something similar only way better: TOMS! Only these are so much better for three reasons:
1. They are sooo comfy! They have great insoles which offer mega support.
2. They come in so many great colors and patterns like: classic red, gold glitter, purple and burgundy stripes, and whatever this color burst thing is! They also have vegan ones (if you’re a better vegan than I)!
3. When you buy a pair, they donate a pair to a child in need! It’s so cool! I know they are a little more expensive that $12, but super worth it!

Also, they just made these amazing wedges! Ahh I can’t wait to get my hands on a pair!

So what are you waiting for? Give while you get, and buy some TOMS now!

P.S. If they get to dirty or start to smell you can hand wash them with some laundry detergent and they are almost as good as new!
